The Department prepares, develops and adopts the Palestinian standards. These standards are prepared in accordance with Instructions for preparing Palestinian standards. Whereas the technical committees (TCs) are formed at Palestine Standards Institution (PSI), with a number of (7-10) qualified experienced members, representing public, private and academic sectors. The TC secretary/ manager is appointed by the department manager.
TCs meetings are conducted periodically to discuss standards several draft, reaching the final draft of standard on consensus base by the TC members. Then it will be submitted to the PSI Board of directors for approval as Palestinian standard.
Standardization covers the following sectors:
- Mechanical engineering sector.
- Chemical engineering sector.
- Electrical engineering sector.
- Construction engineering sector.
- Agricultural engineering sector.
- Textile and leather sector.
- Services sector.
- Food processing sector.
- Health care technology sector
