Palestinian Standards Institution Delivers Training for Agricultural Cooperatives on Quality Management Systems and PAL GAP Certification Requirements

As part of a project funded by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the Palestinian Standards Institution (PSI) conducted a specialized training program for a number of agricultural cooperatives. The training aimed to strengthen their technical capacities and enhance their readiness to implement quality requirements, thereby improving the quality of agricultural products and increasing their competitiveness in local and international markets.

The training was delivered by Dr. Mohammad Al-Dalaq from the Quality and Qualification Department. It covered a range of technical topics, including quality management systems, the requirements for obtaining the PAL GAP certification, labeling requirements, relevant Palestinian Standards, and applicable technical regulations. Particular emphasis was placed on practical implementation mechanisms and best practices to help agricultural cooperatives comply with technical and regulatory requirements.

The training also included an overview of the procedures required to improve operational systems within agricultural cooperatives, promote a culture of quality, and enhance production, packaging, and marketing processes in line with Palestinian Standards, thereby strengthening consumer confidence in national products.

The program witnessed active participation from attendees, who discussed the main challenges facing agricultural cooperatives in implementing quality requirements. Participants' questions were addressed, and practical solutions were presented to improve operational efficiency, enhance product quality, expand marketing opportunities, and facilitate access to new markets.

This training forms part of the ongoing efforts of the Palestinian Standards Institution, with the support of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), to strengthen the capacities of agricultural cooperatives, promote a culture of quality, support the implementation of Palestinian Standards, contribute to the development of the agricultural sector, improve product quality, and enhance the sustainability of national production.
