Metals Technical Committee Holds Its Regular Meeting
The Metals Technical Committee held its 14th meeting today in a single session, conducted both in person and via Microsoft Teams, with the participation of representatives from eight entities representing various sectors, including the private, civil society, and government sectors.
As part of the Palestinian Standards and Metrology Institution’s vision to develop and establish Palestinian standards across various fields, the specialized technical committees undertake the task of reviewing standards that have been adopted for five years or more. They also work on adopting and endorsing new standards to ensure alignment with international standards and to meet the needs of the Palestinian market in the metals sector.

The Committee’s Rapporteur, Dr. Muhannad Ismail, stated that the meeting began with a follow-up on the decisions and actions agreed upon during the previous meeting. The Committee then proceeded with the agenda, discussing four draft standards—two new projects and two updates—and decided to refer all four to the Board of Directors for approval. These projects concern aluminum and its alloys, in addition to abrasive material products.
The Committee’s Rapporteur also reported that the meeting was successfully conducted, with the required procedures completed through the new automation and digital transformation system recently adopted by the Institution’s Board of Directors. Representatives of the partner entities expressed their cooperation and interest in reviewing and discussing the draft standards through the system. Remote participation enabled members to more easily follow the meeting procedures and the steps required to complete the task professionally and successfully.
