The Director General of the Palestinian Standards Institution, Dr. Haidar Hajja, met with the Vice President of the Aluminum and Glass Industries Union and economic advisor, Ahmad Hassouneh, to discuss ways of strengthening joint cooperation aimed at developing the aluminum and glass sectors and improving the quality of national products in accordance with approved Palestinian standards.

The meeting, held at the Institution’s headquarters in Ramallah, was also attended by the Union’s Deputy Financial Secretary, Ismail Quneibi. Discussions focused on several issues related to the implementation of technical standards in the industrial sector and raising awareness among businesses operating in the aluminum and glass industries about the importance of these standards.

Hassouneh emphasized the importance of Palestinian standards as a key tool for advancing national industry and enhancing its competitiveness. He noted that the aluminum and glass sectors constitute an important part of the Palestinian industrial sector and maintain a strong presence in the local market.

He also highlighted the importance of organizing a series of specialized technical meetings and lectures in cooperation with the Standards Institution to familiarize business owners and sector employees with approved standards and implementation mechanisms. Such efforts, he explained, would positively impact the quality of national products and strengthen consumer confidence in them.

Representatives of the Union also reviewed a number of technical challenges facing factories and businesses operating in the sector, stressing the importance of continued coordination with relevant authorities to develop a regulatory and technical environment that supports national industry.

For his part, Dr. Haidar Hajja welcomed cooperation with the Aluminum and Glass Industries Union, affirming the Institution’s readiness to work with various industrial unions and organizations to promote the implementation of Palestinian standards and spread a culture of quality across different productive sectors.

He explained that compliance with approved technical standards contributes to improving the quality of national products and enhancing their ability to compete in both local and international markets. He stressed the importance of partnership between the Institution and the industrial sector in supporting economic development and strengthening the competitiveness of Palestinian industry.

Both parties agreed to continue coordination during the coming period and to explore the implementation of joint programs and activities that would contribute to the development of the aluminum and glass sectors and the promotion of quality standards within Palestinian industry.
