Palestinian and Tunisian Ministries of Industry Sign Five Industrial Cooperation Agreements

Ramallah/Tunis – On December 29, 2024, the Palestinian Ministry of Industry and the Tunisian Ministry of Industry, Mines, and Energy signed five agreements to strengthen bilateral partnership in the industrial sector. The agreements were signed by Palestinian Minister of Industry Mr. Arafat Asfour and Tunisian Minister of Industry Ms. Fatma Thabet Cheboub. This initiative was supported and funded by the “Tasdeer” program, backed by the British Consulate, as part of ongoing efforts to support Palestinian institutions in achieving the highest standards of quality and international accreditation.

Minister Asfour emphasized Palestine’s commitment to enhancing economic relations with Tunisia and benefiting from Tunisia’s successful industrial experience. He noted that these agreements would help build strong trade relations between the private sectors of both countries and facilitate the exchange of agricultural and industrial products. He also expressed Palestine’s aspiration to develop strategic South-South partnerships and organize visits for manufacturers to further promote joint cooperation.

On her part, Minister Cheboub praised Palestine’s achievements in economic development despite the challenges faced, affirming Tunisia’s support at all levels for the Palestinian state’s efforts. She welcomed the strengthening of industrial networking between the two sides across various sectors.

The agreements cover cooperation in the fields of accreditation, mutual recognition of conformity certificates and quality marks, as well as the exchange of expertise in standardization activities between Tunisia’s National Institute for Standardization and Industrial Property and its Palestinian counterpart.

This step aims to enable Palestinian products to access new markets and deepen the economic ties between the two brotherly peoples.
