Technical Committee for Metals Discusses Six New Palestinian Standards Projects
The Technical Committee for Metals at the Palestinian Standards and Metrology Institution held its thirteenth meeting, both in person and via Microsoft Teams, with the participation of representatives from seven entities across the public, private, and civil society sectors.
The meeting was held as part of the Institution’s efforts to develop and update the Palestinian standards system by reviewing standards that have been adopted for five years or more, as well as preparing and adopting new standards in line with international standards and in response to the needs of the Palestinian market and the metals sector.
The Committee’s Rapporteur, Dr. Muhannad Ismail, explained that the meeting began with a follow-up on the implementation of decisions made during the previous meeting, before moving on to discuss six new Palestinian standards projects covering precious metals, jewelry, and light-gauge metal containers.
Ismail noted that the Committee approved submitting the six projects to the Institution’s Board of Directors for adoption as Palestinian standards.
The meeting’s procedures were also carried out and monitored through the automation and digital transformation system adopted by the Institution. This included discussing the standards projects and electronically tracking the related procedures, which facilitated the remote participation of Committee members, enhanced the efficiency of monitoring the various stages of work, and supported the completion of the required procedures.
This initiative is part of the Institution’s efforts to strengthen digital transformation in the work of its technical committees and to develop mechanisms for preparing and reviewing Palestinian standards in a way that improves operational efficiency and contributes to strengthening cooperation with relevant stakeholders.
