The Cosmetics Specifications Committee Holds Its 30th Meeting

The Cosmetics Specifications Committee held its 30th meeting today, both in person and via Google Meet, with the participation of representatives from six organizations.

Dr. Ahmad Ghanem, the Committee's rapporteur, stated that the Committee approved the meeting agenda, which included new draft standards for products widely used by consumers.

The new draft standards are as follows:

  • Draft Standard PS 2938: Cosmetics – Body and Face Powders and Their Test Methods.
  • Draft Standard PS 2945: Cosmetics – Eye Kohl.
  • Draft Standard PS 2950: Cosmetics – Mascara.
  • Draft Standard PS 2959: Cosmetics – Chemical Hair Straightening and Waving Products.
  • Draft Standard PS 2960: Cosmetics – Hair Neutralizing Products.
  • Draft Standard PS 2963: Cosmetics – Sunscreen Products.

These standards serve as an assessment tool for regulatory authorities and contribute to improving the performance of the industrial sector operating in the cosmetics industry.

Dr. Ghanem also confirmed that the Committee had submitted its recommendations to the Board of Directors for the approval of the final drafts of the above-mentioned projects as new standards.

With this meeting, the Committee has completed all the tasks assigned to it during 2026, totaling 41 tasks. These included reviewing existing standards and submitting recommendations to the Board of Directors regarding the adoption of new and updated standards.

Furthermore, the Committee approved its work plan for 2027, which includes the review of 16 approved standards in accordance with Good Standardization Practices (GSP). These practices require that applicable Palestinian standards be reviewed every five years and updated as necessary to ensure that they maintain high quality and remain aligned with the latest internationally adopted technologies and methodologies.

The Committee also scheduled Wednesday, 20 January 2027, as the date of its first meeting of the coming year.
