The Plastics Technical Committee held its seventeenth meeting today, Wednesday, July 8, 2026.

The Committee Secretary, Dr. Mohannad Ismail, stated that the committee's work on draft standards and meeting management was carried out through the newly adopted automation and digital transformation system approved by the Institution's Board of Directors. Representatives of the participating organizations expressed their cooperation and interest in reviewing and discussing the draft standards through the system. The option of remote participation facilitated all meeting procedures for committee members and streamlined the steps required to complete the committee's work efficiently and professionally.

Dr. Ismail also reported that the committee completed the review of ten Palestinian Standards. It recommended updating six standards and submitted recommendations to the Board of Directors to confirm the continued validity of four others, as part of the periodic review process for Palestinian Standards that have been in force for five years or more.

In addition, the committee completed the review of nine draft standards and recommended that the Board of Directors adopt all of them as revised standards replacing their previous editions. The draft standards are:

  • Draft Revision PS 2058: Raw natural rubber — Determination of the Plasticity Retention Index (PRI).
  • Draft Revision PS 2152: Rubber, nitrile latex — Determination of bound acrylonitrile content.
  • Draft Revision PS 2185: Rubber- or plastics-coated fabrics — Determination of surface adhesion.
  • Draft Revision PS 2186:2010: Rubber- or plastics-coated fabrics — Determination of flexibility — Flat loop method.
  • Draft Revision PS 2187:2010: Rubber- or plastics-coated fabrics — Determination of resistance to combined stress caused by flexing and abrasion.
  • Draft Revision PS 2190:2010: Rubber compounding ingredients — Carbon black — Determination of solvent-extractable material.
  • Draft Revision PS 2191 Part 1: Raw natural rubber — Determination of castor oil content — Part 1: Determination of castor oil glycerides by thin-layer chromatography.
  • Draft Revision PS 2191 Part 2: Raw natural rubber — Determination of castor oil content — Part 2: Determination of total ricinoleic acid content by gas chromatography.
  • Draft Revision PS 2212: Cellular plastics and cellular rubber — Determination of apparent density.

It is worth noting that these standards fall within the rubber and related products sector.

These activities are part of the implementation of the Plastics Technical Committee's annual work plan.

The draft standards will enter into force upon approval by the Institution's Board of Directors.
