vices for Solar Water Heaters and Advancing the Sector in Line with ISO 9806
The Palestinian Standards Institution (PSI) held a meeting chaired by its Director General, Dr. Haidar Hujjah, with representatives of solar water heater manufacturers to discuss the localization of testing and inspection services in accordance with the international standard ISO 9806. The initiative aims to strengthen sector regulation and enhance the quality of Palestinian-made products.
Dr. Hujjah emphasized that upgrading the capabilities of technical laboratories and achieving local and international recognition of test results would enhance the competitiveness of Palestinian solar water heaters, reduce both time and costs for manufacturers, and create broader opportunities for export.
During the meeting, Eng. Mohammad Abu Jaab, Head of the Energy Division, presented the current capabilities of the Technical Laboratories Department in testing solar water heaters. He also outlined the requirements for further development to comply with the international standard ISO 9806 and the Palestinian Standard P.S. 8, which covers solar water heating systems – flat-plate collectors. The discussion also addressed technical aspects of enhancing testing capabilities to improve the efficiency of testing services and support national products.
Participants further discussed the technical requirements and mechanisms for cooperation between the Institution and the private sector to develop testing and inspection services, thereby supporting the organization of the solar water heater sector, improving product quality, and strengthening consumer confidence.
