Standards
The department is responsible for the preparation, development, and adoption of Palestinian standards. These standards are developed in accordance with specific guidelines known as the Instructions for Preparing Palestinian Standards. Within the Palestinian Standards Institution, standardization committees are formed, typically consisting of 7–10 members representing the public sector, private sector, and academia, all selected based on their competence and expertise. A rapporteur is appointed for each committee based on specialization by the Director of the Standardization Department.
The standardization committees hold regular meetings to discuss draft standards in their various stages until reaching the final draft of the Palestinian standard, which must be approved unanimously by all committee members. After consensus, the standard is submitted to the Institution’s Board of Directors for official approval as a Palestinian Standard.
