Food safety is essential to achieving many of the Sustainable Development Goals. World Food Safety Day highlights its importance in helping to prevent, detect, and manage foodborne risks. Safe food contributes to economic prosperity, enhances agriculture, opens access to markets, boosts tourism, and supports sustainable development. Accordingly, and in conjunction with World Food Safety Day, the institution launched an awareness campaign to highlight the key services it offers in the field of food safety — including standards and practices that must be followed to ensure food safety.

The Standards and Metrology Institution launched an awareness campaign aimed at raising public awareness about the importance of ensuring the presence of official labels on commercial weighing scales of all types commonly found in markets. The campaign highlights the vital role these labels play in promoting fair trade practices and protecting the rights of both consumers and merchants. The institution further explained that the campaign seeks to encourage consumers to check for the presence of labels on fuel pumps and weighing instruments used in commercial markets, gold shops, and food outlets. This effort contributes to enhancing consumer trust, improving service quality, and ensuring better protection. The institution also urged consumers to verify the accuracy of the data displayed on labels attached to measuring tools and devices.

The media team designed a series of informative posts to highlight the importance of helping citizens identify and choose the correct, high-quality products."
