Weights and Measures Laboratory

The laboratory specializes in calibration of precision standard weights according to the OIML R111 international reference and non-electronic scales according to the OIML R76 international reference. As with other laboratories of the institution, it relies on state-of-the-art technologies and precision instruments for measurement and calibration, serving as the reference laboratory for most mass calibration work in the country.

Operational conditions in the laboratory are carefully controlled with a high degree of precision compared to other laboratories, due to the sensitivity of measurements to vibrations and changes in air density. The laboratory has been accredited by the Accreditation Unit since 2023.

Thanks to the high accuracy of its reference instruments, with uncertainty values starting from ±0.005 mg, the laboratory provides services to various sectors, including:

Laboratory services include:

• Calibration of standard weights from 1 mg to 20 kg.
• Calibration of non-automatic scales from 1 mg to 120 tons.
